19 - Cultural Music Club

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 12:54 PM
kira~kira~; man I'm awesome
It has come to my attention that this school lacks diversity clubs. And considering the wide range of places and cultures of both the student and faculty bodies, I am surprised and dismayed by this fact. Yes, there are many hobby clubs. But I fail to see any clubs that expand the students' knowledge of each other's cultures.

I would therefore like to suggest a cultural music club. The reason I am suggesting a music club rather than any other sort of art is that the school's music department is rather sparse. For the other departments, there are at least art and theater classes. I have also heard of a few student run bands, so there is obviously a demand for a musical association on campus.

The purpose of the club would be to enlighten the members of the school's community to different cultures' musical traditions and customs. To sum it up, whoever is interested would meet and talk about either the music of their own culture or the music of a culture that interests them. Students should feel free to bring in their own instruments, sheet music, recordings, or whatever they want to help explain the culture to the others.

Of course this is all brainstorming at this point. The school does not seem to have its own supply of instruments from different cultures. Depending on how many people are interested, I may be able to get a sufficient budget to actually buy instruments. So please, I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or opinions you might have about the club, whether it is simply that you are interested or if you have suggestions.

18 - Sick

It seems with the change in seasons, I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I probably won't go out as often. Better to just stay in my dorm and get well as soon as possible. It's nothing serious that warrants any sort of concern, but I want to play it safe just in case.

17 - Autumn

I think autumn is one of my least favorite seasons. It can't decide whether it wants to be warm or cold. Besides, all the leaves falling everywhere just gets in the way. Talk about a mess. I especially hate those small burrs that stick to your clothes. Ugh, what a pain. Even if winter is colder, at least it gives you the excuse to stay in the warm indoors and drink hot chocolate by a fireplace.

... Speaking of which, does this school even have a fireplace? I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. I mean heck, I wouldn't trust half of the students here with fire. A fireplace would probably only be a health hazard. What a shame. I spent many winter days back at my old school sitting in the student commons by the fireplace, having a warm drink, and simply chatting with my peers. Of course those conversations were much more intellectually stimulating than any of the gossip that seems to constantly be floating around the halls at this school. Even if I do indulge myself in a juicy story every so often, some of the things I hear in these hallways are just of bad taste. Really, some people here simply have no understanding of the term "tact."

16 - Summer Weather

It certainly has been very warm these past few days. At least it hasn't been muggy as well. Those sorts of days are the worst. But coming from LA, I'm used to hot weather. If nothing else, this past week has been perfect beach weather. Which is exactly where I have been spending most of my free time. It's a bit of a trek from campus, but it's well worth the effort. There's nothing quite like relaxing at the beach, reading a good book, and getting a tan. Always a favorite pastime of mine. If anyone happens to wander by the beach, perhaps you'll see me. You better not bother me while I'm reading. Or sunbathing. Or anytime really. I just hope this nice weather lasts longer. Hm, perhaps I should stop by the library and pick up a few more books.

15 - Correct Ages

So... everyone's their regular ages again. That's a relief. I was starting to get rather annoyed with all the brats little kids running around. But it looks like things have returned to normal. Or... as normal as this school ever gets. Whatever, close enough. All I know is that I'm glad it's over. Maybe now we can have some peace and quiet, at least for a little while. Is that too much to ask?

14 - Age Change

So let me get this straight. Because of the bake sale or magic or something, some people have grown older and some have grown younger? That's... the basic gist of it, right?

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Now I'm definitely glad I didn't eat any of that bear's snacks. How ridiculous. This school just keeps getting more and more absurd.

Though I do wonder what I would be like a little older--*delete delete*

I want to apologize for screaming Whatever you heard wasn't Thanks for rebuilding the door I apologize for the rather loud interruption I caused a few weeks ago. That was terribly rude of me. But the matter has been settled, so there's no need to worry. I just hope I didn't wake or bother anyone with that episode. Other than that horrible blue haired oaf who destroyed my door in a fit of utter idiocy.

Father's Day is coming up... huh...

Hey, anyone want to do something this weekend? You know, for those people not going back home to visit their dads, I mean.

11 - Weekend Cruise

unamused; bored
Hm, the cruise was alright, I guess. The boat was large enough and there was plenty to do on board. I mostly spent my time at the pool, sunbathing. Even with everyone running around, it was relaxing. However, it wasn't as... hm, what's the word... elegant as I thought it would be. The amenities were captivating and all, but it lacked the finesse of some of the more expensive cruises that I've been on. But it was a nice trip... for what it was worth. At least I was able to work on my tan.

10 - Campaigning

It seems elections are coming up soon. I better start campaigning then. I'm not a fan of putting posters up everywhere. Most of the time, they're just eyesores. Besides, unless they're put in the most strategic of areas, most students don't spend time to stare at posters in the hallways. They're too busy with class and schoolwork and everything. I think the best way to get the voting body's attention is through face-to-face interaction.

That is why I plan on holding a party for everyone. I may be running for senior class representative, but that doesn't mean I should only cater to my class's taste. As a part of student council, it's important to listen and take care of the school as a whole. I still haven't decided on a date yet, but it will be very exciting, I can assure you. There will be a DJ and catering, only the best of course. I may have had to call Poppa for that-- It may have been a bit expensive, but if it gives me the chance to talk to my fellow students and hear their concerns and opinions, it will be worth it.

9 - Mother's Day

kira~kira~; man I'm awesome
Already Mother's day, huh? The time sure flies. I wonder if she liked the gift I gave her. I tried calling her earlier today, but I guess she was out. No doubt being spoiled and waited on. But that's what today is all about, so good for her. I'm sure my parents will go out for dinner, as we used to do every Mother's Day. Maybe I'll try calling her again after I'm sure they're back home. Just to make sure she got the gift okay. I'm sure she'll love it anyway. I wouldn't have gotten it for her if I didn't think she'd like it. Nothing like expensive jewelry to please a beautiful woman. Or so I've been told.

8 - Birthday

Today's my birthday. It feels weird not to have a giant party. Almost every year before, my parents would plan a large party and invite all of my friends from school. There'd always be a popular band playing, and my parents got only the best catering around. I know a few of my old classmates who used to have theme birthday parties, but I was never a fan of those. A bit tacky, if you ask me. But hey, they weren't my parties, so whatever.

I got my parent's gift in the mail today. Thanks Pari Pera Parakarry. I hope it wasn't too big for you. Then again, flat screen TVs aren't really heavy, so it shouldn't have been a problem. Hey Jeff, you don't mind having a TV in our room, do you? I suppose you can use it, if you want. Just make sure not to break it or anything.

I'm just glad my parents got me this and not something useless. Then again, they're usually good about getting awesome presents. Last year they got me the latest model of one of the more popular cell phones. This sure beats watching TV in the common room, where there's the possibility of other people already using it. Now I can relax on my bed and watch TV whenever I want.

7 - Cruise

  • Apr. 9th, 2009 at 5:54 PM
ha ha!; you loser!
The graduation and dance were alright, I guess. At least now I know what to expect for next year. My parents probably don't approve of me staying another year, but it's not like I was here for the whole year. Oh well. It will give me another chance to learn more things. The dance itself was fairly impressive. Of course it didn't even compare to the dances at my old school, but I suspected as much. I must thank all of the ladies who allowed me the honor of sharing a dance. If anything good came out of the dance, it was meeting and dancing with new people. I hope we can do it again at the next dance.

The cruise is coming soon. I've been on a quite a few with my parents, so it's nothing new to me. But I guess there are some people who haven't been on even one. What a shame. Those people are missing out. Cruises are a lot of fun and very relaxing. I'm looking forward to it. I wonder what sort of amenities this one will have.

AAAA; RAGE
*A resounding "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" could probably be heard across the campus, emanating from BE-8. It was then followed by a volley of slamming doors, ending in a torrent of rushing water from the bathroom. Oh, and lots of swearing. Lots and lots of swearing.*

6 - Dance

  • Mar. 27th, 2009 at 11:15 AM
unamused; bored
So it seems people are really going out of their way for tuxedos and dresses for this dance. I suppose that's understandable, but I was just surprised. I hardly thought this sort of place would actually have a formal dance. But I suppose it's a nice sort of surprise. Thankfully I brought one of my many designer suits from home. It would hardly do to get a rental one. Ugh, just the thought of renting any sort of clothing makes me cringe. I don't know how people can deal with that sort of thing. Oh wait, it's because they don't have money... Oh well.

What I don't understand is why people are making such a big deal about having dates. Sure I always had one for the dances at my old school, but that sort of thing was expected of high class galas such as that. If you didn't have a date, they wouldn't let you in. In fact, if you weren't wearing designer tuxes or dresses, they wouldn't let you in. It was pretty extravagant. So that's why I don't understand why people here are making such a fuss. I guess if anyone wanted to go with me, I wouldn't be too adverse to it. But I'd rather just hang out with whoever, I guess. Just not that Nester kid.

5 - Roommate

smug; chibi

So it seems I finally have a roommate. Oh well. Just as I was really starting to enjoying having a room to my own. I guess I was just lucky. But I suppose having a roommate is part of the school experience. I really have to wonder though... why would they put together two people named Jeff? Talk about confusing. Eh, whatever. As long as he doesn't leave lights on or is ridiculously loud or tries to sexile me, I won't complain.

4 - War

unamused; bored

Finally it's all over. What the hell was that all about anyway? To think that something like war would occur at this school... I had no idea. I mean sure, this is a fighting school, but it never mentioned anything about fighting for our lives! Geez, I'm starting to regret my decision coming here already. But eh... I guess it could have been worse... At least we won.

Maybe I can convince Hyde into a victory kiss--*delete delete*

Public broadcasts over the headsets

  • Mar. 9th, 2009 at 9:19 PM
tsun tsun; blush
Damn, this is boring... Sure a bunch of people are coming to the infirmary and need help, but still... Not to mention all the stupid broadcasts people keep making over the headsets. What kind of-- Wait a minute... Can you do private calls on these things? Maybe...

Work you stupid-- Oh hey. I-is thing on? Alright, private call... private call... Um, I think this is it.

H-hey Hyde! Can you hear me? Knowing you, you're probably not dead yet. But, uh... be care-- I mean, don't get your ass handed to you or anything. That would just make you look lame. Not that you need any help with that.

...

Don't get hurt, you hear me?

3 - Motivational Speeches

tsun tsun; blush
Geez, what is this? Motivational speech week? I can understand if you need a pep talk before going off to fight, but really? This is just overkill. It's like everyone and their mom has to get in their two cents. It's starting to get kind of annoying. Everyone's just saying the same things over and over again. If you're going to add anything, make sure it's original. Otherwise, don't bother saying it. But hey, whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess.
